Choosing good quality steel balls can not only improve the service life of shot blasting machines and their vulnerable parts, but also improve the surface quality of products. Generally speaking, choosing the type and size of steel balls mainly depends on the work you want to clean up:
Aluminum or stainless steel balls are generally used for non-ferrous metals, and steel balls are used for ordinary steel and its welding parts, castings and steels.
The bigger the diameter of steel shot, the higher the surface roughness, but the higher the cleaning efficiency.
The cleaning efficiency of irregular shaped steel sand or steel wire pellets is higher than that of spherical pellets, but the surface roughness is also higher.
The hardness is proportional to the cleaning speed, but inversely proportional to the service life. So the hardness is high, the cleaning speed is fast, but the life is short and the consumption is large, so the hardness should be moderate (about HRC40-50 is appropriate) and the use effect is the best.
